ED’S LETTER
GLAMOUR South Africa
Life in colour • Colour is proven to lift your mood, and we all need that when the last days of summer are behind us and the temperature drops. Brighten up your wardrobe this chilly season with bold bursts of colour from brilliant blue to shimmering gold, with make-up and statement jewellery to match.
Hot right now • F/W25 Fashion Week is not only a month of intense fashion shows, but a test of endurance. The endless pre-parties, actual shows and after-parties are not for the faint of heart. Having attended our local shows, I can assure you it is exhausting and will leave some questioning their sanity. But it’s worth it. Here, we bring you a round-up of the shows we loved, including our fave celebs who attended them, and share the trends that will shape the 2025 Fall/Winter season.
Fashion director’s beauty essentials • As we enter the winter season, I feel the need to amp up my beauty and hair-care routine. When colder weather approaches, I can feel the difference in my skin’s texture, as well as hormonal changes that take place. It’s essential that I include more steps in my self-care routine.
The viral return of bootleg jeans • You’re not hallucinating, bootleg jeans are back, baby, and we’re here for it. Find out how to style them and you’ll soon be rocking the look of the season.
Style Diary with Zoë Modiga • With her angelic voice and electrifying stage presence, Zoë Modiga has solidified her position as one of South Africa’s most celebrated artists. Boasting an impressive discography of three albums, Modiga’s musical prowess is undeniable. However, it’s not just her incredible talent that sets her apart - her impeccable fashion sense plays a significant role in her overall artistic expression. Modiga’s style is a masterful blend of ethnic chic, retro flair and showstopping sophistication. Her ability to curate outfits that not only complement her performances but also showcase her unique personality, is truly remarkable. Modiga’s fashion choices have become an integral part of her artistic identity.
Bag brag • Every season, I always try to purchase at least one bag that will see me through to the next. Most importantly, it needs to hold my essentials. And as a working mom, my bag needs to hold my family’s things, too. With that in mind, my latest obsession is shoppers and shoulder bags. Suede is my favourite, but I admit that it’s not the most practical. As the saying goes, if “needs must”, leather or faux leather options are available, too. Another really cool style is the infamous “faux” Miu Miu bowler bags that are cropping up everywhere, including the elongated bag that every influencer overseas was rocking during fashion week. These are really cool options for a day-time activity paired with your preppy look.
